Named for one of this trees favorite places to grow. This is a cottonwood box with a summery sunflower lining. Cottonwood trees grow with an abandon which makes the wood less than ideal for woodworking. Knotholes and crazy grain as well as different colors in the wood show the freestyle life this tree lived. In addition dry cottonwood sucks up moisture making it less that popular for construction. This box soaked up what seemed like a cup of Danish oil when I finished it. I love this underdog wood and think it’s beautiful
